Storm's fund was created to ensure that all rescue animals would have access to medical treatment. 100% of all proceeds collected for Storm's Fund will be deposited into an account used to pay for the medical treatment of animals in need at Mountain View Animal Hospital.

Who is Storm?
West Virginia Animal Control in conjunction with the local Sheriff’s Office began efforts to investigate an owner after picking up his dog running at large. Attempts to educate the owner on the proper treatment of his Pit Bull were unsuccessful; she continued to live in squalor, surrounded by trash and old car parts, tied to a short logging chain.

Unable to get adequate results and hampered by local laws Animal Control and the Sheriff were unable to legally move forward to remove the dog so they tried a different approach – assistance from animal rescue.

Upon arriving and assessing the situation it was obvious that the circumstance was dire. The dog had inadequate water, housing, food and it was apparent that she had lived tied to the short end of that logging chain day after day, month after month.

The owner admitted that she continued to have litters of puppies but would not disclose the whereabouts or condition of the puppies. He refused to relinquish ownership of Storm however he did offer to sell her. When she was finally free of the logging chain Storm knew exactly where to go – right up into the passengers seat of the black SUV that would take her to her forever home. That was April 14, 2007.

It was quickly confirmed that Storm had been severely malnourished, infested with fleas, broken teeth, heartworm positive and in the end stages of yet another pregnancy. Because of her current health and condition she was unable to safely be treated for the heartworm until she could build strength and deliver the puppies. A few short weeks later, Storm delivered 5 puppies, 1 survived. By the time that Storm regained her strength and was able to begin treatment for Heartworm, it was too late. She went into congestive heart failure on June 23 and crossed the rainbow bridge on June 26, 2007 in the arms of her hero.
