Goals
The goal of Better Days' Capital Campaign is to raise $990,000 to construct a multi-purpose animal shelter adding more space to house dogs, cats and a spay/neuter clinic.
This will be the first major expansion of the shelter since the property was purchased and the original building was erected. We had no idea how severe the need was in the area when we opened our doors as a support service to existing organizations. This expansion is not out of want; it is pure necessity. We must make these improvements to continue to do what we do.

Phase 1 in the four-phase plan is to raise $50,000 to fund engineering and architectural services and provide much needed upgrades to sustain the current infrastructure. Plans for soundproofing and making the property environmentally friendly are all included. Better Days has current engineering proposals and welcomes additional bids during phase 1 of the project.
Phase 2 is construction of the new building containing 40 new dog kennels of varying sizes, with modern cleaning, heating, ventilation and waste disposal systems, an open, free-roaming cattery and a much needed surgical suite to provide low cost spay/neuter clinics for the local community. The additional kennels and expanded cattery will allow Better Days to increase the housing capacity and expand exposure for adoption.
Phase 3 consists of the addition of a rainwater capture system to be used for cleaning and a small wind turbine to reduce the month to month expenses incurred by the shelter and minimize the impact on the environment. These additions are expected to reduce the monthly expenses for utility service by 30-40%. The current budget, available upon request, also includes allocation of $20,000 specifically for soundproofing materials to minimize noise impact to nearby residents.
Phase 4 includes paying off current land debts secured by the organization, rendering it debt free.
