Joyce Lorriane Chilcoate

Joyce Lorriane Chilcoate, 76, of Chambersburg, and formerly of Roxbury, passed away March 11, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. Her death was due to complications from heart surgery.
Born September 25, 1934 in Chambersburg she was a daughter of the late Winfield and Mildred Knable Ehrhart.Joyce worked at Letterkenny Army Depot and retired in 1980 due to disability.
Her husband, Donald J. Chilcoate, died May 22, 1976. Left behind is her companion of 32 years, Robert W. Worthington. A daughter, with whom Joyce resided, Wanda (Mrs. Galen) George of Chambersburg, a son, Donald Chilcoate and his companion, Patty West of St. Thomas. A grandson, Gerry Barges of St. Thomas and the following sisters, Doris (Mrs. Robert) Hollinger of Greencastle, Betty (Mrs. James) Weigle and Sharon (Mrs. Donald) Wilson both of St. Thomas, Bonnie (Mrs. George) Webber of Chambersburg and Carol (Mrs. Edward) Harne of Hagerstown.
Also surviving is a family who Joyce thought of as her son, someone she helped with guidance and love while he was growing up and until the day she passed onto to the Lord, George Kirchner and his wife Debra and their daughters, Ashley and Samantha who were like granddaughters to Joyce. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joyce loved NASCAR (especially Card Edwards and Kasey Kahne,) country music singers, Gene Watson and Alan Jackson and also professional wrestling. Joyce had a great love of animals, and she believed every animal deserved a good home. She was very involved with Better Days Animal League of Shippensburg until she became ill in August 2010.
